About
Dr Caroline Elton is a chartered psychologist with dual registration in occupational and counselling psychology. She combines a rigorous academic training (undergraduate degree at Oxford University; Ph.D from the Department of Academic Psychiatry, University College London School of Medicine), with an empathic and insightful approach to the provision of careers support.

In her role as Head of the Careers Unit at London Deanery she set up and lead a service that helped doctors in over 70 hospital trusts across the London region. She devised and implemented a ‘triaging’ system in order to establish which career support approach would be most appropriate for each client.
During her time at London Deanery she personally coached over 250 doctors – many of whose career decisions were complicated by significant health and/or performance concerns. She has received exceptional feedback for this work.
Caroline has also written widely about medical careers in professional and academic publications. She is a regular speaker and facilitator at conferences and training events throughout the United Kingdom and has an excellent reputation as a facilitator. Following an Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) grant to the USA, she established a link with Professor Nicole Borges – one of the leading researchers into medical careers in the USA.
In 2014 she set up CPD – Career Planning for Doctors. Working alongside a carefully chosen group of associate colleagues, CPD offers 1:1 coaching; Career Planning Workshops as well as Faculty Development initiatives.
